FEEM SI is based on a multi-step procedure. As a composite index to measure progress in sustainable development, it first requires the selection of a number of meaningful indicators that will, eventually, replace the aggregate index. Then, as a forward- looking composite index for ex-ante evaluation, FEEM SI requires a complex methodology to project the trend of all indicators in the future. Furthermore, indicators are reconciled to a common measurement unit through normalisation and are, finally, aggregated into the composite index. All steps are summarised below and more extensively explained in the specific sections, available by clicking on the related boxes.
